Brief Description

The project involved connecting the two inlet chambers of the main trunk sewers serving the Khosous Lifting Station (Phases I and II) to the emergency culvert (capacity: 3.4 million m³/day), together with proposals for any additional station components — such as gates and other elements — to ensure that no overflows or losses occur at the Khosous Station.

T&I’s scope of work included collecting the drawings and data related to the Khosous lifting units and their inlet and outlet trunk sewers; identifying emergency operating conditions and studying the failure of any system component at the Khosous and Qalag lifting stations; proposing solutions to address emergency conditions — whether through operational procedures or physical modifications to the system — so that these conditions do not cause overflow at the Khosous station or endanger the electromechanical equipment; preparing a preliminary design for any additional system components at the Khosous lifting station so that it can handle emergency conditions safely and efficiently; carrying out a hydraulic analysis of the emergency scenarios and the system’s capacity to handle them safely, and finalizing the hydraulic design; performing the structural design of the connection works and evaluating alternatives in terms of cost and constructability; preparing the construction drawings for the proposed project; and preparing the technical specifications and remaining project documentation.
